It has been revealed by the mainstream media (finally) that Cambridge Analytica and the Government use our data and personal information for manipulation and control.
This most likely is not new information for you. If you’re within the ‘alternative’ news scene this probably is common knowledge that you’ve known for a while. We can now confirm beyond a doubt, that our ‘supposed leaders’ are actively trying to shape our perspectives and minds.
Are they doing this for the good of humanity, in order to help build a fulfilled and pro-active society that benefits us all …….. I shall leave that for you to decide
This manipulation has been made possible on such a grand scale by social media platforms; primarily Facebook.
As the media pumps out its propaganda and attempts to create further division, we must remain focused on the opportunity that lies within this ‘scandal’. Every person, whether in the ‘alternative’ scene or not, are affected by this.
Unfortunately it is being presented in a chaotic and confusing way, with the ‘left’ attempting to direct the focus towards Trump, Cambridge Analytica and as always ‘The Russians’.
Let us not lose sight of this golden moment. There is a crisis, and within every crisis, comes great opportunity. This time, it is us that can utilize it.
This is our chance, the shoe is on the other foot and together we can seize this moment. For too long Facebook has been allowed to act in a terrible way. Controlling the flow of information, selling off our data and censoring anybody who dares to challenge them. Now this is out, the mass of people can finally see beyond the veil, and they’ll be looking for somewhere to turn. I can guarantee the mainstream media shall offer no alternative. Leaving many feeling hopeless and, as if the only option is to accept Facebook for the monster it is.
Let us join to direct people’s attention to the other answers.
Spread the word on all platforms that there is another choice. There’s an option with sites like Steemit for people to join a new, innovative and disruptive platform. Free from the constricting tentacles of Facebook, Google and their friends.
This is a call to action. For all those who wish to see a change in our online communicty and society as a whole. If you have Facebook pages, Twitter, Instagrams or in conversation with your friends, let people know about Steemit; tell them there’s an alternative. We can use these platforms to our advantage. Presented with this opportunity we can create a change.
Do not get tied up in the he said she said, or distracted by ridiculous two party politics. Yes, Cambridge Analytica are bad. But they’re simply a product of a system that allows things like this to happen. Let us focus on offering people the alternative and encouraging a positive change. Moving a critical mass away from the very platforms that facilitate this.
There are two ways this can end. Do we complain and moan about the corruption, sitting back whilst the media blames Russia and Facebook promise to get their act together, using this as an excuse to introduce new regulations which shall censor us even more.
Or do we say enough is enough, stand up and refuse to participate in their games.
