Caged eggs in Australia

in #news6 years ago

Eggs, we all love them. They're great in a cake, whipped up and made into french toast, or even just straight fried in a pan. But I think I can speak for all of us when I say that the way Chickens are kept and treated to produce these eggs is revolting. Living in cramped quarters and Living in squalor. In fact, Battery Cages are still in wide use in Australia, the same style of cage phased out in the European Union 5 Years ago and by New Zealand in 2012.
Hens that live in battery cages suffer from a combination of stress and frustration brought on by not being able to
perform normal natural behaviours such as WALKING, nesting, foraging or even stretching their wings!

Imagine that life, living in a box not much larger than yourself, not being able to walk or move properly and not even being able to stretch your joints. This is no way for a living thing to be kept in captivity. We are capable of so much more than simple slavery.

I am proud to say that as a Western Australian, I stand with the movement to band Caged Eggs as a whole and believe my state is taking steps in the right direction towards a new cruelty-free way of eating.

So take a stand Australia. Kick and scream and get yourself heard BAN THE BATTERY CAGE
