The adoption of Bitcoin as payment option is taking new heights if we look at India. The 3th city of India, Bangalore, is steadily growing each month in accepting Bitcoin as payment option. Unocoin, the leading exchange in India, is helping local merchants to accept Bitcoin as payment option.

Bangalore is the 3th biggest city in India, containing over 8.4 million people. Merchants in the Area accept Bitcoin payments through the biggest exchange of the country, Unocoin. Unocoin reported this month to have 300.000 registered users. At this moment they are already processing 200 million India Rupees, the currency in India, each month. At this moment there are about 400 merchants using Bitcoin as payment option in Bangalore. But the last month about 50 new merchants were added in the system.

Unocoin is trying to bring cryptocurrency under the attention of the citizens in the city. They organize meet ups where they tell people about Bitcoin, Ethereum, and blockchain technology. I think it's great they raise awareness within the local citizens.

At this moment the Indian government is still discussion about how to regulate the use of cryptocurrency in it's country. A task force is currently investigating the possibilities and how to regulate Bitcoin. It will possibly take about 6 months to come with recommendations for cryptocurrency.
