1. Introduction
Recently I came across a video on YouTube of an Idaho woman named Penny Hefner who turned a 35-year-old man named Ryan Stephen Patania into the authorities for sex crimes against children. No, this was not a case of fake pedophilia but rather the real thing. The video of her interview is below.

I found Ms. Hefner's interview to be interesting, and I liked her bravery. However, when she said for parents to be leery of men who have no children and no steady relationship and to take it as a red flag when trusting anyone with their kids, my mood about her quickly changed from a positive one to a negative one. Where does she get such garbage? It sounds like the kind of crap that Dr. Park Elliott Dietz would peddle to his herd of sheep.
Dr. Dietz was the charlatan who claimed that most men who commit mass shootings are virgins who have never had a girlfriend or wife in their entire life. Well, he has peculiarities about his own sexuality that cause people to question his professional integrity and demeanor. Of course, that's another article for another time.
I begin to wonder why it is that Josh Duggar only got 12 years behind bars for his child-pornography convictions, whereas Mr. Patania received 40 years in prison, among other things. Could it be that our court system treats married men, with children, more favorably in child-sex cases than it does single, childless men?
The elephant in the room here is that Ms. Hefner's above-described statement suggests that most child sexual predators and pedophiles are single, childless men. Well, I can easily debunk her misconception.
2. Married Men, With Children, Who Are Pedophiles
Josh Duggar was a married man, with seven children, when he went to prison for child pornography. He got married at the age of 20. He used to preach wholesome purity to his followers until the authorities closed in on him. This man is a regular clown-car act.
Toby Willis was the patriarch of The Willis Clan for many years. He got married right out of high school to his high-school sweetheart. He is currently serving a four-decade-long sentence in prison for raping his daughters from the time that they were toddlers. So much for all these Tony-Danza/Macaulay-Culkin centaurs not being potential pedophiles and child sexual predators.
Peter Gerard Scully was once a married man and a family man. He had the wife, the kids, and the house with the white picket fence. He's now serving a 129-year sentence behind bars in the Philippines for heinous sex crimes against children and for raping and murdering a 1-1/2-year-old girl in a video he produced and posted on the Internet. Josh Duggar was one of his biggest fans, and he still is.
Penny Hefner? If you're reading this article here of mine, my heart goes out to you for all the atrocities that Mr. Patania committed against your family and against other families. However, please don't generalize about child sexual predators and pedophiles the way you do, because then you're allowing pedophilia to be wrongfully weaponized to support an oppressive caste system that singles out single, childless men to be falsely accused of reprehensible crimes that they have not even committed.
There are more than enough married men in the world who have kids that commit some of the most unconscionable crimes against children. Nobody needs to be pointing the finger at anyone based upon their marital status or parental status or rather the lack thereof. Some men do not end up all alone with no family on their own volition. There are external forces that put them in that same situation unwillingly.
The United States currently has a crisis of male loneliness. The birthrate is on a downward spiral as well.
Many men are simply not finding that dream romance that they're always told about in Disney films, and they don't get the chance to start a family; but it doesn't make them child predators or pedophiles. I don't care how old these men are. There are no telltale signs for that sort of thing. There are only actions that indicate that certain men are a danger to children and do horrible things to them.
3. Final Thoughts
It is bad enough that the United States has a problem with fake pedophilia and pedophile-panic propaganda. There is no reason that our society should be profiling certain types of men for false accusations in that respect.
I realize that the man who interviewed Ms. Hefner, Nate Eaton, didn't really have any control over what she said. However, he could have jumped in and told her that nobody should produce stereotypes of what a child sexual predator or a pedophile should be like.
It would only stand to reason that if every single, solitary man who has never married or fathered children were a child sexual predator and a pedophile, the human race would have gone extinct a long time ago. There are many single, childless men, but it doesn't mean that each and every one of them is a pedophile and a child sexual predator.
Nowadays it's as though men who may simply have had hit a bad patch in their lives in the area of romance and prospective fatherhood are being targeted for horrific allegations that have nothing to do with them. I'm not bashing all married men, with children, but I am clarifying that there have been a whole host of them who have committed some of the most egregious crimes against children, including against their own children, in recent years.
Our society needs to stop putting crap into people's minds that isn't even true. Our nation has enough problems as it is. We don't need to make up additional ones that aren't even real.
