RE: The End Of An Era: Saying Goodbye to Hugh Hefner!

in #news7 years ago

"He made it ok to have "grown up fun!" probably sums up his legacy the best. He was an irreplaceable giant for American culture.

My one question to the people who are critical of him because of his sexual politics out of the belief that the public celebration of sex is immoral and degrading: Are you then just as, if not more, critical of the normalization of violence in our culture? Take Game of Thrones, for example - whenever I hear people complain about the show, it's always about the sex and never the violence, despite the fact that there is way more graphic violence depicted on that show than sexual content, and even much of the sexual content is graphic and somewhat violent. I'm a lifelong student of the martial arts, so I'm obviously not advocating against the depiction of violence in the media. I'm merely highlighting the inconsistencies in the arguments of social conservatives surrounding Hef's legacy.
