Find me on Minds

I've looked around the web for the last week more actively, trying to discover interesting new dApps or to see what other blockchain platforms beside Steem can offer. I've noticed that Ethereum Blockchain doesn't have as good reputation as it could have, but that doesn't hesitate me from trying it out. I am an open minded person and there is no good reason in my opinion to left it out of my trajectorory just because someone doesn't believe in it. I believe anyting could happen.

"Who's a Minder?"

Now "Who's a Minder?" you might ask. A Minder is a user of the decentralized social platform called Minds which is migrated to Ethereum Blockchain since August 2018. Minds hopes to be and potentially could become the biggest dApp on Ethereum.

What is Minds?

Minds is a social platform sharing similarities with familiar sites like Facebook and Twitter. Mainly it seems to me that the feed is used to post statuses (like on Twitter), but there is also a possibility to run a blog (similar to Facebook articles), create discussions (chat), create groups and join communities, make friends (subscribe), etc. The difference is that it is decentralized just like Steemit.

Minds joined Ethereum Blockchain on August 2018 (as i already said) and therefore exited it's beta phase which started in 2015. It was founded already in February 2011. It has been featured by Forbes, Business Insider and other big media magazines. Minds also appears on thousands/millions of search results on Google by now.

"As other networks continue to lose the public's faith, Minds has more than doubled since last year, now with 200K+ monthly active users and 1.25M+ registered users."

Earn cryptocurrency with Minds

Minds rewards its users similar to as of how rewarding takes place here on Steemit - by creating content and getting recognized for it. By posting statuses, images, discussing, liking, sharing, etc, you can be rewarded with Minds Token depending on your contribution (similar to curating on Steemit). With Minds Token you can boost your own posts or help boost your friends post or anything you find interesting.

Boost engagements is similar to Facebook businesses post boosts where 1 Minds Token is equal to 1000 views (impressions).

2000 Minds Tokens = 1 ETH

Minds Token users Ethereum's ERC20 wallet and can therefore be taken as a cryptocurrency which can be exchanged into Bitcoin or Ethereum. Minds Tokens went live with the launch which happened on August 2018 and can be bought using ETH. Currently, as I have understood, 1 Minds token stands for 0.0005 ETH.

Earning via contribution

Tokens are rewarded for users every 24 hours for contribution on the platform. The more you contribute and do, the more you get rewarded. Everything you do on the platform will give you accumulated points which will then be calculated into your rewardings.

  • 1 point for 1 upvote
  • 2 points for 1 comment on your posts
  • 4 points for a subscriber or shared
  • 10 points for an invitation using a referral code (new user)
  • 2 points for every time you check-in

"Your token reward = (Your daily accumulated points ÷ Network’s daily accumulated points) x The sum of token rewarded of network."

Rewarding your supporters

Another awesome thing I noticed while surfing on Minds and setting up my account was the straight forwards rewarding system on the profile . You can configure rewards to give to your supporters in exchange for their Minds Tokens. As being a streamer, this reminds me a lot of something like donations or subscriber perks. You can come up with anything you like or can do that other's can support you for. Also this is much similar to fundraising sites like WeFunder, GoFundMe, etc. Instead this time you can let people fund for you while you just socialize on the platform and create amazing content.

just a random rewarding configuration i put together fast to even see if this could work

Anyways... (Steemit vs Minds)

Steemit is more meant for blogging and everything done on the Steem blockchain goes to your Steemit feed, therefore posting short status updates here on Steemit isn't really a thing. I bet Steem blockchain probably has a similar dApp as well, but I guess it hasn't attracted me the way Minds did. Minds user experience is really easy to understand and the page looks well-done all together. For me, it's just a perfect blockchain-twitter.

This is why I am going to give Minds a try. When Steemit launched, noone of us could've really known what it could grow to be and I think Minds is a baby on the blockchain which has already gained enough attention to believe in it.

This is incredible work. This design has navigated right into my heart This shot blew my mind.

Wait, what design are you talking about? :D

Hmm, I'll give it a look

Hmm, I'll hope you do. :D

I've been using Minds a while. I love the functionality. It's very straightforward and the system requires less knowhow to understand how it works. I love its boosting. It doesn't need bots.it also has good social hubs for different topics... like groups. These are things I miss in Steem. Oh... and instant messaging. It is a feature full system. Steem is great but still requires lots of learning.

Yeah.. I know I kind of missed to mention a bunch of more features Minds offers, but basically if anyone cares enough to check the site up for even a few minutes, they should find everything themself. It's just amazing how easy it is to navigate over there.. or is it just me being a genius? Haha. :D

It's good to see another Steemit user in there and enjoying the view. : )

Hi @kassixo, so sorry we missed this post! If you wouldn't mind commenting (on this comment) we'll make sure to give you a boost. Thanks for sharing your dapp exploration! :D

Awww! Had so much going on last week that I already forgot about that post myself, haha. Thanks for digging it up and not forgetting about it. : )
