Seoul - Kim Jong-un said he will speed up 30 minutes of hours in North Korea to match South Korea's time zone. The policy is a series of positive results achieved in meetings Kim Jong-un and President Moon Jae-in on Friday, April 27, 2018.

The two countries have different time zones since 2015, when North Korea suddenly changed its default time to a 30-minute retreat behind South Korea.

As reported by the Straits Times quoting from AFP, Sunday (29/4/2018), Pyongyang include nationalistic reasons when changing the time zone. They claim to turn it into the time zone used before the Japanese occupation to mark the 70th anniversary of the country's liberation from the Colonialism of the Land of the Rising Sun.

Now, after North Korea-South Korea summit, Kim Jong-un promised to reconcile his time zone with Seoul. This was revealed by Yoon Young-chan, President Moon's Spokesman Jae-in.

According to Yoon Young-chan, Kim Jong-un feels sad to see two hours hanging on the wall of the meeting room shows different times for the two neighbors.

"Because we made the standard time change, we will be back in time, you can publicly announce it," Yoon Young-chan quoted Kim Jong-un as saying.

Changes to Pyongyang's previous time zone invited criticism from Park Geun Hye, Moon Jae-in's predecessor, who came from the conservative camp.

The time zone difference is considered to deepen the difference between the two Koreas who were scattered by the 1950-1953 Korean War.

The war on the Korean Peninsula is technically not over. Moon Jae-in and Kim Jong-un on Friday vowed to formally end it.

Historical Meeting of North Korea-South Korea

Couples Kim Jong-un and Moon Jae-in meet face-to-face in the village of Panmunjom, precisely on the demarcation line in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Symbolic actions colored meetings between leaders of both countries.

After greeting, shaking hands, Kim Jong-un stepped south, recording history as the first North Korean leader to step on South Korea. Kim Jong-un then invites Moon Jae-in to do the same.

From various reports broadcast live, throughout the meeting, the two leaders spread many smiles and did not even look awkward. Like two old friends, they look compact.

The North Korea-South Korea Summit produced a number of agreements set out in a document entitled "Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification on the Korean Peninsula". The three important achievements included are the two countries agreeing to formally conclude the 1953 Korean War, impose full denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, and will work together towards unification.

The important talks both ended with a joint press conference, in which Kim Jong-un spoke directly in front of the media crew. This is something no North Korean leader has ever done before.

However, the public is still assessed whether North Korea will actually denuclearize.
