The latest test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile is a direct challenge to President Trump, whose tough talk has not led to any change in the Hermit Kingdom's behavior as the Kim regime continues its efforts to build a nuclear weapon capable of striking the mainland United States.
The test took place on Tuesday North Korea time or late Monday USA time. The missile has the capability to reach Alaska, experts say. They called it a major milestone for North Korea’s weapons program. The day after in response, the US and South Korea conducted a joint missile exercise in response to what the US Pacific Command has called “North Korea’s destabilizing and unlawful actions,”.
This show of force follows a series of recent missile tests by Pyongyang. Kim Jung Un has now launched more missiles in one year than his father and grandfather did in 17 years in power. For now the Trump administration has relied upon the help of the Chinese and military exercises with South Korea to keep North Korea in check. Though I'm not so sure how much the Chinese can or are willing to help out. We will have to see how this pans out. I do think that we need to just led this dog bark, because that is all Kim will do. There is no need for more escalation.
