Digminer is dangerous only for Chrome users.
Unknown users used Facebook Messenger to spread the virus for the crypto currency. This is stated in a study of experts on cyber security Trend Micro.

Experts first discovered the virus in South Korea and gave it the name Digmine. According to the company, the virus affected residents of Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines and Venezuela.
Digmine is contained in the disguised video file of the form video_xxxx.zip. If you open such a video in Facebook Messenger via Chrome, the virus downloads and launches the Monero crypto currency miner on the infected computer.
Digmine also installs an extension for the Chrome browser, which "steals" accounts on Facebook to distribute infected files through users' accounts.
Trend Micro experts said that representatives of Facebook have already begun to struggle with Digmine and are trying to stop the spread of malicious links. Experts advised users to be more attentive to suspicious messages from unknown people in social networks and to monitor the privacy settings of their accounts.
