What is 'Adreno' in Smartphones?

We have observed many a times the word Adreno GPU in smartphone specifications but do you know what Adreno GPU means?.So this will clear your doubt.

Adreno is a series of graphics processing unit (GPU) semiconductor intellectual property cores developed by Qualcomm and used in a variety of their SoCs.It was first developed under Imageon brand named by ATI Technologies which was acquired by AMD in 2006.

Graphical games,animations and apps have become an important part of mobile experiences.That is why all Snapdragon processor includes Adreno graphics processing unit (GPU).The use of Adreno GPU is to deliver high perfomance graphics and a rich user experience with low power consumption.If users think their mobile UI,games and applications look of high quality then it is only due to Snapdragon processor with Adreno GPU.

Here is the Adreno GPU family,

Adreno 200- Snapdragon S1 chipset ,Adreno 203- Snapdragon 200 chipset, Adreno 205-Snapdragon S2 chipset, Adreno 220- Snapdragon S3 chipset, Adreno 305- Snapdragon 400 chipset, Adreno 320- Snapdragon 600 chipset, Adreno 330-Snapdragon 801 chipset, Adreno 530- Snapdragon 820 chipset.

Adreno GPU concept is only found in Qualcomm Snapdragon powered smartphones.So does your smartphone has Snapdragon processor?
