In a shocking news, a woman was arrested on Sunday for killing her six-year-old son in Bhatinda of Punjab. The woman is suspected to have an unsound mind. Read to know more.The six-year-old was murdered in the bathroom of his house.

Chandigarh: In heartbreaking news from Punjab, a woman was arrested for killing her six-year-old son. The news has surfaced from Punjab’s Bathinda district, around 200 km away from state capital Chandigarh. The six-year-old was murdered in the bathroom of his house in Bhai Mati Das Nagar on Bhatinda-Mansa road on Sunday morning. The reason behind the murder is not yet certain.

As per the investigating officers, the woman in question is suspected to have an unsound mind. A report in Hindustan Times, quoting police sources said that the 35-year-old woman might be suffering from some mental disorder.

The six-year-old victim is identified as Harkirat Singh. Harkirat was a student of Class 1 in a private school of Bhatinda. He was killed by his mother with a dragger in early hours of Sunday as reported by PTI.
“The accused allegedly attacked her only son with a dagger while giving him a bath at home in Bhai Mati Dass Nagar”, said Bathinda Station House Officer (Civil Lines) Rashpal Singh.
As per police, the boy suffered grave injuries in his chest as well as abdomen. The six-year-old succumbed to the injuries and died on the spot.
Singh added,“The deceased was objecting to taking bath at around 10:30 am but the mother forcefully took him to the bathroom, where she put a piece of cloth in his mouth so that he couldn’t make noise,” as per a report in HT. After taking off the minor’s clothes the mother attacked him with a dragger multiple times. The attack immediately resulted in the boy's death.

The father of the deceased, Parminder Singh is a property dealer. When the crime occurred, the father of the child along with grandfather was washing the car outside the premises of the house.

Bathinda senior superintendent of police Navin Singla said that the mother of the child is currently in trauma. He added that the investigation of the murder is undergoing.
