Samsung Galaxy S9: why we should not believe in its presentation at CES 2018

in #news7 years ago

Several rumors evoke an announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S9 in January, at the Las Vegas show. An unlikely hypothesis in our eyes ..

Rumors surrounding that the successor of the Samsung Galaxy S8 are growing as the year 2018 approaches. They evoke in particular a device with minor evolutions, except the optimization of the display space. Several media also mention an earlier launch than last year. According to the Business Korea website, the Samsung Galaxy S9 will be announced at CES in Las Vegas in January. Information largely taken up, which follows other rumors going in the same direction. However, we have several reasons to believe that it is unfounded.

Distorted information

These latest rumors follow an article on the site VentureBeat, written by the journalist Evan Blass - often very knowledgeable. He says the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 + will make an appearance at CES. By repeating the information, several media have made this "rumor" a full presentation. In his paper, Evan Blass said that a presentation in March is still on the agenda. Presumably, this announcement in January should not go beyond the blink of an eye, just like what Samsung did at the last Mobile World Congress.

The same rumor as last year

This is not the first time that several sources evoke a change of schedule at Samsung. Last year, the debacle of Galaxy Note 7 had pushed several analysts to predict an early exit of the Samsung Galaxy S8. A rumor that was later denied by the South Korean brand. This year, the excuse is the iPhone X, and Samsung would be eager to respond to Apple. A rather surprising argument to the extent that the Galaxy S8 already benefits from an edge-to-edge screen and a facial recognition function.

No movement at Samsung

At one month of the CES, no invitation to the press was sent about the announcement of a smartphone. Several pieces of information that have reached the media are also in the direction of a later launch of the Samsung Galaxy S9. On the other hand, movements in the TV area seem more likely, for example with the announcement of a microLED panel.
