Where Puerto Rico Stands

It’s been over three months since Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico with devastating consequences. Unfortunately the island is still in crisis. Sure we hear of the stories where schools and some homes are getting back electricity FINALLY but there are still so many places that have no power, no water, and some people still have no place to go. As a matter of fact only about 55% of the island has power and if you’re not in one of the main cities forget it, you’re the last on the list to get anything. There have been many organization going over the help but unless your building houses or can get electricity or water going, the outreach you’re doing while appreciated and needed is just a Band-Aid.
The question is why is this taking so long? Why has the Trump Administration abandoned Puerto Rico pulling FEMA from the island and promised to stand by Texas and Florida until the end (I might add these are two states that Trump won to be put in the presidency)? Because this was what Trump has visioned, putting his good ol boys into position to take the lead and rape the island of resources and money coming in from the millions of dollars of donations. Little did he know that when he told the people of Puerto Rico it was time for them to take care of themselves that they decided to do that all without his help.
So now Puerto Rico has organization developed by their own people in several towns that are providing meals, shelter, medical care, and activities for kids that are still displaced from school that still closed because they are not in the main cities. So while Trump rides around the golf course for his endless golf trips once again the people of Puerto Rico are proving that while they do still need some help, they are not expecting it from him.
