[RANT] Some bluffs you just don't call... (the shooting at Georgia Tech)[09.17.17]

She was asked to drop the knife. She was asked to stand down. She was asked to stop advancing. A gunshot rings out and she was again asked to stand down. She kept advancing and actually egging the police on site to “Shoot (her)!

So they shot her. They were left no other option.

Some bluffs you just don’t call.

No one will ever know what was going through her mind at the time, but common sense dictates that the answer is only 1 of 2 things. First, she was looking at suicide by cops and a free ticket to martyrdom. Second, she thought the police were bluffing and wouldn’t shoot a “helpless” female with a "tiny knife".

Yeah, some bluffs you just don’t call.

Our money is on the latter of course. The notion that the police wouldn’t dare to open fire on a “helpless” female armed with a “tiny knife”. Sadly though, as she found out the hard way, the police were left no choice but to drop her since she wouldn’t drop the knife she was brandishing.

And of course, as is to be expected after such an event, the social media sphere is abuzz with this story and all manner of commentary is filling the internets with the oh so familiar tones of:

Why didn’t they just shoot her in the arm/leg?

Because police take specialized training and part of that training involves being taught to aim for center mass. That, for the layman, means the biggest part of the body. In the case of humans, the chest area/upper torso. The reason for this? It affords the police officer the best chance at stopping the assailant/perp. Ask anyone who has ever fired a gun how “easy” it is to go all Hollywood and shoot the weapon from an assailant’s hand without a mortal wound and everyone lives happily ever after. Go ahead, ask one.

Each of them will tell you that it’s hard enough to successfully hit a moving target, let alone the added bonus of trying to hit a moving arm or leg.

Fun Fact: almost every target that the police and shooting enthusiasts use for target practice do not have anything more than a head and a torso. It’s got no arms or legs. Are you catching on yet?

She only had a tiny knife! How much harm could she have caused?

The size of the knife is irrelevant. You want proof? Go find the tiniest knife you have and ask yourself, “If I stabbed myself in the fucking eye, would I lose the eye or possibly bleed out before too long, or both?

Of course you will. You fucking abject retards.

A razor blade the size of an inch by an inch can kill a human being within 10-15 minutes. That’s fucking small, not to mention super thin. So how can it be so lethal? Simple. We have major arteries all over us, including easily accessible ones in the neck, the thigh, and under our arms. You swipe at any one of them and land the cut, you’ll be dead in 10-15 minutes as you bleed the fuck out all over the place. They’ll have to wait for the blood to dry to draw your dumb ass a proper chalk outline.

So ask us again how much damage someone can cause with a “tiny knife”. Idiots.

Size doesn’t matter.

Fun Fact: remember that on 9/11 terrorists took down planes and crew with fucking boxcutters. BOXCUTTERS. Not guns.

They shot her because she was an activist! For shame! They should be fired immediately!

No. No, no, NOOOOO.

GODDAMMIT!

They shot her because she had a weapon and refused to drop it as she was advancing towards armed officers trained to drop your stupid ass if you fail to comply. They didn’t stop to ask about her participation level, or her choice of pronouns, or what clubs she was affiliated with. So get the fuck off the cross, snowflake...we need the wood.

Her leanings or motives were then, are remain now, irrelevant.

She had a weapon. She failed to comply with the police. She got her ass dropped. The end.

Another power-tripping cop! They didn’t need to use deadly force!

Yes they did. They are, as we mentioned earlier, trained to subdue if they have no weapons and they can hope for the best, but mostly to subdue with deadly force as needed if the perp is armed and fails to comply. These officers have two missions every day (same as anyone else) – arrive alive and leave the same way. They have families they wanna return home to. One or more of them should put their lives in immediate peril for the sake of one whacked out fucking kid?

What the shit?

Ever try to wrestle a bear bare handed? No? Would you even try? No?

When you’re confronted with a weapon, you use whatever force is needed to subdue. Including deadly force. The cops aren’t interested in machismo antics like holstering their guns and rolling up their sleeves so they can get into a good old fashioned wrestling match with a perp. Lay off the fucking movies for a while and feel free to rejoin us here on planet Earth. This ain’t Hollywood.

They didn’t have to shoot them! They could’ve used rubber bullets/beanbags!

Was it a rubber knife? No? Then shut up and sit the fuck down, tool.

Police should try not to be killers/murderers!

Can you morons even hear what you’re saying? Can you even see what you’re posting? You all make it sound like the police show up to work every day with a game of “How many can I kill today?” on their minds.

Fun Fact: with rare exception, no police officer ever wants to draw their weapon, and this is for two reasons. The first reason is because of the amount of paperwork involved each time they draw their weapon. Yeah, there’s paperwork involved. They need to justify why they drew it. Police do NOT like to do paperwork. The administrative portion of their day they’d rather be without. Ask any one of them and they’ll tell you.

steem_paperwork.gif

The second reason, and the most important one, is that they realize and immediately understand that having to draw their weapon means that there is a very real possibility someone is dying there soon. Could be them...could be the perp. Nobody knows. They know that there is every reason to believe that a gunfight is about to go down and they may never see their aforementioned family ever again, and that is a crippling feeling to have at a time when you need to be razor sharp and on high alert and in complete control of your emotions.

Here’s a fun game – instead of suggesting the police not be killers/murderers (which is so absurd in its own right to even imply that’s the case), how about you suggest that people comply with the fucking orders that the police give to them so they don’t have to end up as a crime scene and a chalk outline?

Wouldn’t that just be easier?

Tragically, this story will die out sooner than later and no one will have learned a goddamn thing from it. There’s a very important take-away here, and it will be overlooked by near everyone. When a cop gives you an order to stand down and drop the weapon – stand down and drop the fucking weapon.

Unless you’re striving to fulfill your high school yearbook quote of, “Most Likely To End Up As A Chalk Outline”.
