What a shocker that the media would even lie. They "weren't bought out" since they existed right along with Capitalism, created by such and are willing to defend the interests of the Capitalist class against anti-capitalist sentiment. Of course we see the media bicker amongst each other, but that's more of the symbolic realm of factionalism amongst the bourgeois class than anything else. In reality their bickering is just a front to gather supporters for their faction to dominate the ruling class, nothing more and nothing less.
Yet the entire class of the bourgeoisie does have vested Universal interests they wish to preserve amongst each other and are not willing to betray to gain leverage. One of them is to hide up the mistakes that can clearly incite movements against them, in this case The Keystone Pipeline leak. If this was to blow up in everyone's social media and TV, this would send shock waves of disgust that'll eventually build up to enough steam in order to incite revolts against the very existing social order. This the bourgeois class doesn't want to see in the media nor people really talking about it in general. No surprise it's hush-hush.
