RE: Elon Musk is the greatest car salesman who has ever lived

A couple of things from his announcement regarding the solar roof. First, he said that the energy one needs would come from 1/3 personal solar power and 2/3 utility. Whether that was him playing politics or truthful, there's no way renewable energy purists are going to buy that statement.

Second thing, which wasn't actually in the announcement, but some article I read - the solar panels are 2% less efficient than the inefficient solar panels we already have.

Lastly, he said that the cost of the solar roof would be the cost of a normal roof PLUS the cost of electricity. What the heck does that 2nd part mean? The expected cost of electricity for the warranty period (20 years or whatever it is?) He was very subtle about how he said it that I'm not sure people noticed the "plus" part. That is when he lost me, and I zoned out.

So yeah, definitely a good salesman. Its not as good as he makes it sound.
