Wow, we can see traces of Trump's corruption from Space. The image shows the yard of Hartford Finishing. Hartford Finishing is an arch-right wing* organization at the corner of Madison and Wacker Drive that powder coats used equipment by day and suppresses democracy at night by sneaking around stealing mailboxes.
There are viral images of mailboxes piled up in the yard of this refurbishing company in Wisconsin. I loaded Google Maps. I think the pile of mailbox blue things in the upper right hand corner of the image are the mailboxes! Here is the google map link and my screen capture of this travesty:
- I assumed that the company is arch right wing because I can think of no other reason that an equipment refurbishing company would have a pile of mailboxes in its yard.
Anyway, I was feeling really bad about Americans have lost the ability to engage in substantive debate. Discourse in the US is dominated by people who want to manipulate people by invoking emotion. There is no substantive debate anymore.
Anyway, while lamenting the fact that we lost the ability to communication, I I then turned on the news and watched talking heads panicking about how the Trump Administration was trying to undermine the Postal Service in their campaign to subvert the election. The reduction of mailboxes through the years was front and center in the debate.
The site Save the Post Office states that there was about 400,000 post boxes around the turn of the century. There was only 159,729 at the beginning of FY 2014. The Trump Administration has reduced the number to 141,000.
Some people say the reasons for the sharp drop in mailboxes was the invention of email. 9/11 made the country want to reduce the number of unmonitered entry points into the mail system.
Another troubling trend is the loss of payphones. There used to be a large number of payphones. During the Trump Administration I noticed that it is difficult to find a payphone. Trump is not only destroying mailboxes. He is destroying payphones.
I hope I invoked a deep visceral reaction with this post.
