Julian Assange was right when he said what the United States would do to him if given the chance.
Today, the Department of Justice handed down an indictment with 17 charges under the U.S. Espionage Act. The total of all charges could have Assange spending the rest of his life in prison.
There is also the chance that he could be put to death if found guilty. He is charged with publishing stolen documents that are of national security.
The Obama administration considered the same charged yet backed off because of the potential for First Amendment violations. We see the Trump Administration has no such concern.
This could put Ecuador and Britain in a serious position since both countries stated they would not turn over Assange if his life was under threat or he was left to rot in jail. These changes could bring all that upon him.

Did you see that now Chelsea Manning is back in jail too for refusing to testify against him? It looks like they started a new wikileaks trial so that they could extradite him but they aren't making the trial public so she's refusing to testify.
