Dapps & SMT
However I have a more important question to ask. How many hours, days, weeks or months did you read the word “dapp” before you knew what it meant? Just think about it for a minute I know it been longer for some than other when you first encounter the word “dapp”.
Don’t want to embarrass anyone but what about all the other acronyms that been thrown your way since you encounter Crypto and Steem?
Ok, here another one “SMT”, now it been a while since I first encounter this acronym “smt”. I clearly remember I had been posting and reading posts for a few hours when I first encounter this word “smt”. Well I was reading a post, enjoying and understanding that post until this word “smt” pop up into the post.
When I first saw the word it really kind of alter my understanding of what I was reading in the post. I didn’t think this was a problem after all if you just keep reading it normally all become clear. I kept reading but it didn’t become clear as the post use the acronym several more times.
I thought alright that’s it! I am not going to go back to other posts or reference list even if it mean not fully understanding what I have just read. Maybe I will look at this post tomorrow, because I already been on steemit now for more than three hours. (Note I never reread that post).
Well I don’t want to point these two acronyms out as the biggest offenders to understanding a post but they were definitely up there in the top running for me in maybe March and April of this year.
I hate to mention; EIP and SPS because I know these to acronym caused people a lot o problems. (On their behalf they did spell it out at the beginning of the post but that wasn’t enough.)
Now if you know what a dapp and smt is you know that they are really taking off.
Last but not least “NEW STEEM” is great but the words did cause some people problems.
Lol @rodrook. To be honest I think when I came onto the platform for the first time, going through a lot of articles, I came accross the word smt a lot. At first I just thought like well I'll figure it out sooner or later and just left it at that. It was two days back when I was working on another article that I got bored and decided to browse around the FAQ page. That's where I found out it's the same as Ether's ERC20 Tokens. Lol.
Thanks @luvlylady (lol), happy to know I am not the only person too busy to lookup “smt”. But I had to within a few days because it became too prominent in too many posts.
