Time isn't infinite
That's exactly what got me thinking about how I was wasting my time living up to the expectations of others by pushing myself into a career that I didn't really love. At 80, 70 or 60 years old you can never go back and change how you lived when you were young. I used to think life was about preparing myself for security at that age. But if I focus too much on being happy when I get to that age I could look back and see a missed opportunity.
If I'm going to be happy I have to learn to be happy right now. And if that's not easy then I need to make it easier by surrounding myself with the things that make me feel good, without the unrealistic expectation of always being happy in any given moment - as that's impossible. But to be happy with life in general, and by the time I get to 60 if I have nothing to retire with well at least I'll be an expert at surviving with what I've got :)
Peace is lovely for some. Personally I find that I need to keep moving. After my first time traveling I realised I could never stay one week in one place that wasn't home again. There's too much to see and experience. But I do also dream about a self sustainable lifestyle at home. Fresh eggs from the chicken coop and veg from the garden... Actually that's something I grew up with as my Dad is all about it so I already have a base to go from on that - but further, I'd also love to be able to make my own furniture, design my own house, and I'd rear pigs and have an annual pig on the spit party... That's a lie I have a weakness there lol. We had a beautiful white hen once who failed to lay any eggs. She used to follow me around the garden and was very gentle unlike the others. My dad eventually chopped her up and stored her in the freezer but I refused to eat her (although I may have easily been tricked a one day she was just no longer in the freezer).
Well I would suggest that the secret to happiness may be chickens, but maybe for you chickens hold a slight childhood trauma too!
Happiness can be found in the simplest of things. Keep things simple. xx
Haha... Yes chickens are the secret to happiness. 😄
