These last few weeks the weather has been atrocious in Wellington. Coming to Lake Taupo should have been a major improvement.
Driving up through the Desert Road (Central North Island NZ) travellers got buffeted by heavy winds.
I lost both bikes.
So like other cars I pulled over to the side of the road and salvaged what I could. Was not looking forward to inspecting the damage.
Well the good news, the mountain bike survived, both rims on the road bike totally destroyed, I need to take the bike in to get the frame assessed. So typical, road cycling is my passion, mountain biking not so much.
Not a good start to the holidays but the family all arrived safely.
