Splinterlands is AMAZING!

in #nft3 years ago (edited)

NFT games are on the rise. And like every other Joe (or Juan, where I'm from) I wanted to get in on the action. There were 2 very famous play-to-earn games where I'm from. Unfortunately, my pockets aren't as deep as my desires. One involved investing a lot of money (around $1.5k or PHP75k) to be able to build a team of 3 and the other just around PHP13k or $260. The second game had a sale so I was able to come in for PHP5k ($100). I bought 2 characters and a sword. I was able to save a bit, made some moves in the game, and ultimately completed my team of 4. I was ready to rake the moolah in! But fate has a weird sense of humor. The cost to play (gas) is now higher than the rewards you get. I put my team into hibernation and set out to look for a game that wouldn't cost too much to get into, and whose economy was stable.

Enter: Splinterlands. A friend told me about the game. He said that you can play for free to get a feel of the game but to earn rewards all you had to spend was $10 (PHP500). I gave it a try and had a ton of fun. It was like a cross between the card games I loved (MTG, LoR, Hearthstone) and auto chess. After obtaining a spellbook (you need this to be able to earn rewards), I set out to accomplish my daily quest which was to win 5 ranked games with the life splinter. It took a while before I completed the quest because (please don't laugh too hard) I had no idea what a life splinter was. When I finally figured it out, I was able to get my first daily quest reward - 30 DEC.

Browsing through the site, I saw that there was a tournament and the registration was just 10 DEC. Of course, I got creamed but the experience was worth it. I also bought my first card (because I thought why not) for 30 DEC. To progress the leagues further, I needed 1k power. My power was now up to a whopping 10. Completing today's quest gave me another card which upped my power to 20 lol.

But what's amazing to me is how the community gives you tons of ways to earn. Posting or sharing your gameplay (or about anything for that matter), playing the game, airdrops, staking, renting out or selling your cards, and probably a lot more I haven't discovered yet.

I'm loving the game so far. I think out of all the games currently out right now it has the brightest future and the longest lifespan.
