The point of blockchain is to keep an (hopefully) immutable record of events.
There's nothing about it that makes it inherently decentralized. It's a ledger. A list of transactions, events, etc.
Anyone could make one. The quality of making your own might be up to debate, but you could do it.
Decentralized blockchains use various forms of authentication to validate, and because they're a blockchain, you don't have to have a third party source of trust. NFT domains are just a different way of registering a domain, and there's no assurance the registrar can give that backs up the claims of no renewal fees ever, or the validity of an NFT in official systems. The way the internet works, the domains are still hosted for routing.
An NFT has nothing to do with that, and can't bypass the fact that it needs to be routed the same way as everything else.
I honestly can't think of a single reason why you'd go an NFT route vs not. NFTs are just digital 'ownership' rights, that are about as binding as spit on a window. NFTs are ledger entries that get added to a blockchain, but they aren't a blockchain. It's like saying a table entry in a database is the same as a database.
No one knows for sure who Satoshi is ('creator' of BTC), but Satoshi didn't invent blockchain in a vacuum. They were just the first to decentralize it for the purpose of currency.
Oh. And blockchain is a technology.
Saying it's one single entity would be like saying there's only one database in the world. I mean, we've got the yuan and the usd and the cad and aud and the gbp, etc.
It's not like one existing invalidates the others.
Also, blockchain isn't internet. Blockchain can't replace the internet.
Pull up a shopping receipt, then use that to navigate the streets of a city you've never been to.
It's nonsensical. They're not at all related.
