I'm Disappointed In Nigeria

in #nigeria6 years ago

They say the future is in our hands and the youths are the future. This phrase has gradually become obsolete and irrelevant to this present generation, atleast in Nigeria.

I will openly express my disappointment in the countrys' electoral system, in fact every arm of government has been compromised and surprisingly our president is in the helm of things. These past few days have left me downcasted and killed my "ginger" as regards what the future actually does hold for us in this country.

If you are familiar with the countries politics you would know that we are all working towards the 2019 election and the past few weeks has seen so many twists and turns and foul plays in the country's polotics if I'd say.

It is evident that we cannot have a free and fair election in Nigeria without fowl play. The just concluded Osun state governorship election was a proof to attest to this fact. As after having what was called a "peaceful" election it became an issue releasing the results as powers that be began to work their magic to manipulate the results in their favor. Well they succeeded as INEc initially declared the PDP candidate Senator Adeleke the winner (evidently) but later gave it to the filling APC for reasons well known to them.

I just read in the constitution that The citizen is the Highest office in the country which should imply that they hold the highest power in deciding the countries future. Don't get me wrong the The office of the President is the highest political office but the citizens hold the highest there is. Sadly reverse is the case in a country like ours where the citizens do not have a wisper talk more of having a voice or holding an "office".

Well I do not want to go through the headache of stating how we can make it work in this country, I just want to express my frustration. how I wish what Ghana did some years ago could be done in a country as ours where we would gather all politicians in a single house and blow them the hell up! Do you know how worse it has gotten? its so bad that the sitting governor of Edo state came out in a press conference and admitted to rigging the election on National TV and nothing was done about it. can you believe that? well you can see it for yourself here

What does the future really holds for us? do we just sit and watch as it all unfolds or try do something about it? what are we to really do?
