Monica at Work Processing the Smoked Fishes

A country filled with corrupt and selfish political leaders just like the rest of the World, Government office holders filled with colossal greed coupled with an unstable economy is nothing far away from an anrchism ridden system of Governance.

From Statistics, Nigeria ranks among the top oul producers in the World among the likes of Kuwait and Canada:

As the largest oil producer in Africa, Nigeria produces 2.53 Million Barrels (402, 000 m^3) per day...NNPC

With so vast resources, but limited infracstructures and development, standard of living for an average citizen isway below par. Hence, the struggle for Survival is not only for the fittest bit also for the Skilled and smart.

CASE STUDY: A CHEMICAL ENGINEER TURNED SMOKED FISH PRODUCER/RETAILER

One of the ways not to depend on the Government and it's resources for sustainance is thinking outside the Box, just like Monica Tanee, a Chemical Engineering Graduate from University of port Harcourt Nigeria- West Africa did.

She hails from Rivers state, one of the fossil fuel producing regions of the country and she suprised us all by Processing and retails smoked fish (Cat Fish) for a living.

Her trade is a small scale business but very lucrative, she processed this fishes right from the Catch by washing them thoroughly, sprinkle salt on it and then smokes them by means of a firewood oven till they are ready for consumption.

Only a few Nigerian young ladies could do this, her believe that she could earn a living through this means after waiting for years without a job, hardwork and perstitency which is sustaining her is tenancious and commendable.

If you happened to be in need of Smoked Fish, which is Very delicious and the same time Nutricious than fresh ones; kindly contact her on:

This is a pro-bono marketing for our dear monica, we haven't met physically and she deserves all the clients and customers she needs, hence we are promoting her to the world!

Great article, @oluwoleolaide! Monica's courage is definitely the type to emulate. I like the statement in your article, ''Only a few Nigerian young ladies could do this, her believe that she could earn a living through this means after waiting for years without a job, hardwork and perstitency which is sustaining her is tenancious and commendable.'' I am very glad and proud to state that I am one of those few Nigerian women, who wouldn't wait for any kind of assistance from the Nigerian government or any other government. I graduated in 1999, finished youth service in 2001 and had no regular career job until 2010 (9 years post NYSC). Granted that providence connected me to those who found me worthy to facilitate implementation of public health projects in Nigeria, having served with the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) during my service year. However, those jobs with UNICEF, UNAIDS, NPI, etc were temporary short-term contract jobs. I was very well paid for those jobs, so when the contract ended, while waiting for the next one, I invested the money into some business. I'm writing so that whoever reads my comment on your blog will know that I had a call centre, under MTN umbrella (in Jikwoyi, Abuja) where I was making calls, selling recharge cards, foods that I make myself (cakes, meat pie, fried meat, moin-moin etc.). I'm glad to have met @oluwatobiloba who resides where I resided before. My former neighbours then whom she knows will confirm that this is a true story of my life.

Wow!

@maryfavour now topping the list of the Few ladies.....9 years is a long time, i wonder where you got the courage to stay focus for that long.

RESPECT IN ALL FORMS TO YOU!

Salute Ma!

That's Nigeria for you sir.... Nice one there you never disappointed with your posts...

Thanks bruh, putting that Lady on the Blockchain might swell her client base....inlove with her😍

the problem with Nigeria is having neophytes and
accidental leaders, who see no good in superior argument but rather see pragmatic men of
goodwill as opportunists, and yet only pontificate sickening solutions to national malaise. These small men dabble into office and become
mega thinkers, cogitating ill conceived ideas.

And am tripping with your Grammatical acumen @chidiebere 🤗

Hopefully when I am finally able to visit your country and the hurdle to obtaining a nigerian visa is reduced significantly, I would be delighted to buy some smoked catfish ;-) from Monica. It is encouraging when young people lead the way to self-sustainance and not turn towards violence and ill-doing due to hopelessness.

I love the title. I will add to my "reading" list and upvote it now. :)

That's so sweet of you dear @udochiokeke

Your article got me thinking bruh. Well done..

Glad that its making that impact mate.....

Brotherly! This is very on-point

Thanks my bro, good to read your comments...

You gotta double your hustle here. We have the good the bad and ugly everywhere, but just that sometimes it just seems that the bad outweighs the good here. I like what this graduate is doing, instead of waiting on the government, with a likely futile result, it's better you do your own thing. Kudos to her and more power to her elbows.

Chair! You continue to dish out impressive piece everyday. When I grow up, I will like to be like you o 😀

I wish more people had Monica's guts. Our governments would be forced to sit up and listen if enough people took initiatives like this.

Yes bruh, am tapping from her resilience...
