Home videos and films are synonymous on a lighter scale if not the same but because of the vast and ever rising globalized movie industries the country posses if not the world at large, there are some few distinctive piece between the films and the home videos
*PROFESSIONALISM- In home videos the working crew tends to be less experienced and amateur as the home movies, like the name implies are mainly for the purpose of the family and they do not always posses the best of the best..
BUDGET- Unlike the films which do posses a higher amount of investments and sponsorship from companies and various individuals, d home video usually has a lesser budgets as it is characterized by the target which is the smaller market
CAST- The casts which are featured in the home videos are typically not the cream of the crops which basically determines the directors featuring amateur and upcoming acts as the too stars might not fancy featuring below personal standards..one advantage of home video in this context is that it is an avenue for upcoming talents to gain recognition and sizeable amount of time to display their prowess hence this makes it a distinctive feature
DURATION- This feature is one which is also distinctive as the length of the home video usually do not exceed 90 minutes as opposed to the films which has an average range of 90mins to 3 hours... This is because in films there are more twists and turns and a large chunk of more drama et all unlike the home videos which basically send a single message
AUDIENCE-This is the most important piece of distinction between the home videos and films. This is because the home videos are usually PG rated as it is for the family and all age groups unlike the films which requires parental guidance or mainly targeted for an adult audience... The home videos in most cases are easy to understand because of its target market -the home, while the films might be more complexed because the target are generally the adults and larger audiences....
GENRE- The Genre for home videos are usually comedy and soft tragi-comedy contents and that is why directors tend to keep it short and simple. Unlike the films which are thrillers and action and blockbusters and a host of others so as to garner a larger attention for the sake of profits awards and interests.
