Hello everyone
@samiwhyte here
Nigeria the giant of Africa in the last few days have been heat up by the statement made by her president, President Buhari to the international community, claiming Nigerian youth which make up about 30% of it's estimated population (one hundred and eighty million (180m) citizens) are lazy. Immediately the president made the statement, the news went all over the country as youth took to all social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat... and including our dear steemit).

The expression of disappointment and lack of.confidence on the APC lead administration as currently under fire and intense attack as the government battle to rephrase the statement of the president. The information minister/spokeman to the president, Lai Mohammed has come on air to explain what the president meant by the statement, claiming the president is only referring to the few youths in the Oil Producing Region of the country who choose not to do anything thing but wait on government to pay royalties from explore crude oil from this region. The statement from the spokeman has made little on no impact on the angry youths. Opposition parties are also capitalizing on this statement to turn the heart of the youths away from the APC lead government. This will help woo this over 30% of the population who are majorly the active voters.

Before referring to someone or a group of people as lazy, you must understand the concept of laziness. In my own word and in this context, I will define laziness as a state of idleness or unproductivity in the means of opportunities, resources ... The government cannot refer to the youth as lazy when it has not provide the necessary opportunities and resources for productivity, like the popular saying, **to whom much is given, much is expected, you cannot demand from the youth what you've not deposited.
Nigerians On Steemit; A prove that we are not lazy
Give a lazy man a golden opportunity he will still make a shipwreck of it. Nigerian youths on steemit has broken the law of laziness. We can see how these youth go beyond all odds to be productive on the steem blockchain. Some of these youth took it as a voluntary duty to promote steemit to everyone around, this can be seen in the fast spread of steemit in Nigeria. With steemian traveling for hours and also spending hundreds of dollars just to host a successful steemit meet up or campaign. The promo-steem community as well as the entire steemit community can attest to the fact that Nigerian are hard working and very productive.
I call on the Nigerian Government to visit the steem blockchain and see how productive and hardworking her citizens are.
