The Nigeria of my dream

Nigeria has been home to a number of kingdoms and tribal states over the millennia. The modern state originated from British colonial rule beginning in the 19th century, and took its present territorial shape with the merging of the Southern Nigeria Protectorate and Northern Nigeria Protectorate in 1914.

Nigeria is often referred to as the "Giant of Africa", owing to its large population and economy. With approximately 186 million inhabitants, Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa and the seventh most populous country in the world. Nigeria has the third-largest youth population in the world, after India and China, with more than 90 million of its population under age 18

Nigeria, the trigger of Africa

The shape of the Africa map is like a gun while Nigeria is at the trigger. Peace in Nigeria signifies a considerable level of peace in Africa(vice versa)

As of 2015, Nigeria is the world's 20th largest economy, worth more than $500 billion and $1 trillion in terms of nominal GDP and purchasing power parity respectively.

Despite the huge natural resources, the country has continued to suffer from the effect of  neglect, lack of visionary leadership and poor implementation of governmental policies. Budget are structured and designed not to work but are presented ceremoniously on annual basis. We have laboured in darkness with societal corruption becoming the trend of the day. Lack of jobs and basic amenities has continually have it's negative impact on the economic well-being of the people.

Sitting at the side of my bed I could only but imagine what I expect from my leaders and what is expected of me. I look forward  to a time when we will have a sustainable power system. A time when our roads will be pot holes free and the street light working effectively. A Nigeria where the security system will refuse to embrace corruption and political Influence. In all a Nigeria where Politicians will be more sincere to speak the truth at all times no matter the consequences.

Also,  I look forward to a Nigeria of peace. Where religion will not be played at the detriment of our unity. Christians and Muslims have no business fighting, Fulani herdsman having no joy in killing, Militancy becoming a thing of the past. A Nigeria where justice, equity and fairness will be taken seriously. True Federalism as its peak. This is the Nigeria of my dream.....

God bless Nigeria.
