INSECURITY AND KILLING IN NIGERIA IS ATTRIBUTED TO CORRUPT POLITICIANS

President Muhammadu Buhari, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Malam Garba Shehu, has attributed insecurity and killing in the country to corrupt politicians.

He said that the politicians involved were those who no longer had access to public loot.

Shehu, who told him on Monday in Abuja while talking to journalists, said that these politicians were willing to take their breath away from the administration led by Buhari.

"The competition for power has become fiercer because the stakes are very high," he said.

According to Shehu, Buhari is attacked above all because a war against corruption has been unleashed on the country.

This, he said, has never been so in the country, as access to the public treasury for looting had been blocked by some people, according to Nigeria's news agency, NAN.

The aide, however, said that the president was lucky because he had a judicial system that was transforming and was on the same page with him in the fight against corruption.

"As I speak to you now, two former state governors are in prison, a lot of people thought that this war against corruption is a joke and that the continuous plot that had characterized it over the time may continue.

"The case was determined after eleven years of mutual exchanges between lawyers and judges, giving football to this court.

"Many of these tough attacks against the president come from people who have become accustomed to the lifestyle they can not support.

"By heart, there were people in this country, because they are influential, they had a permanent suite in the main hotels in Abuja where they leave generously at public expense.

"And when they leave, they are accompanied by Ghana-Must-Go bags," he said.

Shehu added that the president blocked access to national resources for the lazy, politicians, especially those who were fighting because they were not happy.

He said that the federal government led by Buhari was building infrastructure across the country.

According to him, no state where a minimum of two federal roads are not rebuilt or rebuilt recently.

"We have more electricity that can not be consumed, 2,000 megawatts of electricity that nobody is taking.

"At the end of the year, we may reach the 10,000 megawatt of the 2,600 we inherited," he said, adding that the government's problem was how to sell and distribute electricity to those in need.

The president's aide noted that those who criticize Buhari and the All Progressive Congress (APC) will not give up when the 2019 elections are approaching.

"They will continue to fight the president, but the happiness we have is that ordinary low-level Nigerians understand the huge conspiracy.

"The Nigerians are with the president, the elites are going to places - America and the United Kingdom - and they are clicking into elegant homes in Abuja, Lagos and some of the country's major cities.

"They are trying to counter the president's good will towards the people.

"But this economy is being rebuilt, more foreign investments are coming, more infrastructure is being given to Nigerians, and even the security infrastructure that has suffered negligence over the years is given priority," he said.

Shehu added that if those who attack the president did what they were supposed to do by training and training the army, things would have been different.

He argued that no government in the past was doing the same for the army and the police as the current administration.

He said that the federal government is putting in place infrastructure in prisons and the EFCC that people might think he's making a lot of money for the institutions.

Shehu also said that the government is implementing world-class infrastructure for Nigerians, and the government understood that its detractors wanted to draw attention from it.

He reiterated that the government will continue to remain on the message and, of course, regardless of distraction.

He expressed optimism that the APC will not only win the presidency in 2019, but will win more states, especially in the south-east .
