A hacking group claims to have accessed a large portion of Nintendo's data.
A hacking group called Crimson Collective has claimed to have successfully breached Nintendo's servers. Nintendo is very sensitive about its intellectual property and rights, and the latest move by the hacking group is a huge undertaking.
According to an image leaked on the X social network, the Crimson Collective group is in possession of folders related to file categories, production assets, and Nintendo developer files. The Japanese gaming giant has not yet released any official statement on the matter.
The Crimson Collective group is the same group that hacked Red Hat's GitHub a while ago and stole around 570 gigabytes of data. Red Hat flatly ignored the Crimson Collective's ransom demand.
It is likely that Crimson Collective wants to extort money from Nintendo and then delete the data in exchange for money. Otherwise, all confidential information will be released; of course, provided that the group's claim is true.
Hacking and infiltration of large companies' data is not uncommon in the gaming industry. For example, some of Rockstar's data was hacked in 2023 and part of the source code of the GTA 6 game was leaked.
Until Nintendo releases an official statement, we cannot fully trust the claims of the hacking group Crimson Collective.
Hackers gonna hack, it amazes me how good they are. It's not a great way to live; karma has to get these people in the end.
Yeah, These are thieves in disguise, riding in the noise and disorder of the world!
I'm sick of getting notified that I should change my passwords all the time, then god for bid you lose your phone number and they have no other way to prove it's you. It happend to me when my phone and computer got hacked at the same time.
About two years ago, a major hacking scam happened to me and a large number of users on the Solana network. With a fake NFT and a fake website that they created instead of the official Jupiter exchange website, they were able to deceive us and take away our Phantom Wallet confirmation, stealing about $1,000 of my assets in one go!
