MUSIC THOUGHTS - Part 3 - Some of my favorite rappers

in #norway7 years ago (edited)

This Music Thoughts will cover some rap artists I find special or a little different than your average radio friendly rap.

I dress like an metalhead, got tattoos and have long hair but I really appreciate some good lyrical ranting from time to time, and the more bizarre the better is my opinion.

First rapper, Wax from waxandherbalt.

First I want to show you a rapper who likes to go old-school, his artist name is Wax and got to be one of my all time favorite rapper. He also has a twin brother who is also a really talented, he goes by herbalt. Their YouTube channel is waxandherbalt. Wax is the most impressing freestyler I know, I will post this under as well where he freestyle raps for ~10 minutes.

Here is a song named coins. It comes out strong with a solid flow and an old-school, dirty beat and it keeps giving until the end. Got to be one if my most listened to rap song of all time, everlasting imo.

Here is also some other songs or performances from wax that I find special or a little different.

♣ Wax - Freestyling live on radio LA Leakers
♣ Wax - Be adviced
♣ Wax - Dreamin
♣ Wax - No Real Job (Playes guitar, raps and sings live on a rocking boat!)

Danny Brown, the most variable lyrical person ever.

Next one on the list is probably the most bizarre of the bunch. Maybe you have heard of him, he's name is Daniel Dewan Sewell, better known as Danny Brown. MTV described his as "one of rap's most unique figures in recent memory", and they are not wrong! A really fun fact about Daniel is that, Danny's talent for rhyming came at a very young age, as his mother would read Dr. Seuss books to him as a child. So when he began to speak, he would talk in rhyme. I found that fact really cool!

And here is one song called wonderbread and it's a very weird and different than his other stuff but it's absolutely the most special.

Here are some other material from Danny Brown, maybe not so weird as the one above.

♫ Danny Brown - Dope song
♫ Danny Brown - Grown up
♫ Danny Brown - Smokin & Drinkin
♫ Danny Brown - Monopoly

Norwegian rappers, Klovner i kamp/Clowns in battle.

Third and last I decided to cover some Norwegian rappers, they play in a band called "Klovner i kamp" or Clowns in battle. They were established in 1994 and had a solid foothold in norwegian hop hop culture. Here are my favorite from Klovner, named Dr. S

Some other stuff from Klovner i kamp/clowns in battle.

☻Klovner i Kamp - En seng på hospitalet
☻Klovner i kamp - Varsko
☻Klovner i kamp - Fra vugge til grav
☻Klovner i kamp - Nattens sønner

A little different than the first two Music Thoughs. Hope you enjoyed this!

Great post thank you! Espessially Klovner i kamp, cool to hear some good rap in Norweigan!

Thank you! I know, I think most Norwegian rappers try to follow the "Kanye" style of rapping. Personally I don't like it so yeah, good to hear som good norwegian rap, indeed.. Been to long.

Haha that doesn't sound too exciting in general.. Haven't heard that much norweigan rap, the only one I can think of now is Admiral P. More reggae-rap but he had some catchy summer tunes at least. This is better though :)

Yep, got new respect for Admiral P when he was a part of the norwegian tv program "hver gang vi møtes", got to hear a little backstory from when he lived in South Africa and got to hear him in with some different kind of music! So I recommend checking out that :)

Thanks I'll check it out! I listen to a lot of swedish reggae-rap so I'll probably enjoy this

I really like Swedish rap, one that I forgot to mention in this post was "Maskinen". Norwegian rappers got alot to learn to live up to Swedish rappers!

Yea I like Frej Larsson from Maskinen. His newer solo stuff and he also did a song with ODZ recently that was cool!
