2017 Galaxy phones are all about size. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus have supersized their displays compared to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge and now the leap from the Galaxy Note 8 is all but certain to be massive as well…

SlashLeaks has obtained a new render which ties in perfectly with Olixar’s official Galaxy Note 8 cases. It shows the phone will sport an Infinity Display which fills an even larger percentage of the front than either the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus. This aligns with multiple reports of the Galaxy Note 8 having a huge 6.3-inch display, up 0.6-inches from the ‘explosive’ 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 7.
The render also shows the Galaxy Note 8 will switch to the same elongated 19.5:9 aspect ratio as the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, which makes larger phones easier to hold and use one handed.

The move makes sense as Samsung typically applies (and refines) the cutting edge tech introduced in each Galaxy S generation with the launch of each new Galaxy Note later in the year. Whether 6.3-inches proves a step too far for some users remains to be seen.
Of course it isn’t surprising to see Samsung push the boat out with the Galaxy Note 8 given that Apple will deliver its biggest iPhone redesign yet within one month of the Note’s August launch date. The Galaxy Note 8 will also sport dual cameras, retain the headphone jack and a slightly less stupidly positioned rear fingerprint sensor.

Whether this last feature is a deal breaker for users will likely depend on whether the iPhone 8 will suffer the same blow, as suggested by two major leaks last week. Samsung will certainly hope so.
