Nsala Soup (White Soup)

Hello steemian, I will like to teach you guys some part of Nigeria soup that I learnt Nsala soup.

Nsala soup or white soup is a tasty,fast,deliouse and easy soup that has its origin from riverine part in Nigeria. This white soup it good for rainy time because of it spicy taste which makes body warm and it very easy to prepare.

INGREDIENTS FOR NSALA SOUP.

  1. Utazi leaves
    2.salt
    3.seasoning
    4.cray fish
    5.yam powder
    6.cat fish
    7.habanero pepper
    8.ogiri to taste
    9.dryfish and beef (optional)

PREPARATION DIRECTIONS FOR NSALA SOUP

  1. Cut the fish into desire size,remove all the dirty I.e the intestines, then pour a very hot water on it to make it tough reason for this is to make it strong while cooking and wash the catfish with cold water after 2min.

  2. Nsala soup needs either pounded yam paste or powder or potato puree to make it thick.

  3. All other ingredients sure as utazi leave, the habanero pepper or chilli pepper and crayfish should be wash and pound or blend together.

Note: when using fresh utazi leave one or two is OK because of it bitter taste.

COOKING DIRECTIONS

  1. Firstly, put the catfish into a pot and add water that cover the fish quantity then add the seasoning and little salt to taste and set on fire then cover it up.

  2. Add the beef and the dryfish to make it more tasty.

  3. Then add the pepper, crayfish and utazi leave that is blended together.

  4. Add the yam paste in a small lump and add salt to taste.

5: allow the contents to cook by covering the pot until the yam paste dissolve and if notice that the one soup will be so thick then remove the remaining yam past that are yet to dissolve.

Note: this food can be eaten with any swallow food. And the unique taste of this soup is giving by the taste of the catfish.
