Why is it taking so long for the adult industry to adopt crypto?

in #nsfw4 years ago (edited)

I remember bitcoin in the early years was supposed to be the killer of traditional payment systems for the adult industry but we can say that this prediction never really materialized. Since the early days bitcoin was not really used to buy and sell stuff but had more of a store of value function. People were buying and hodling bitcoin for speculative reasons and not much for spending them.

Over the years a number of projects tried to bring blockchain closer to the adult industry but almost nobody was using these tokens. Maybe these tokens had names that were too flashy like titcoin, spankchain etc and did not really give users much privacy. In terms of privacy, cryptocurrencies have the "drawback" of having a blockchain, thus all transactions are transparent and traceable, for some users this could be a deal-breaker together with the hassle of having to purchase these specific tokens in an exchange and transfer them into a wallet, not really convenient. From this point of view at least dporn is tapping into the hive community. There are thousands of users already familiar with crypto and that are used to exchange tokens without fees because it's hive. Do you think this platform will gain adoption/traction?

I understand that users here are used to visual content so after this short post I will share with you some photos from a photoshoot I did a while ago with the gorgeous Alexa:

I've heard of a tipping service connected to hive, if someone wants to send me a tip I will update this photos with more revealing photos:

My latest post is on this subject

If you want my guess, I'd wager my chips on image. There's enough misinformation out there about Crypto being used for shady, illegal, back room dealings. The adult entertainment industry tries REAAAAALLY hard to keep this clean image of safety and all that fun jazz, that I think they're staying away from crypto because they don't want the negative (and incorrect) reputation attached to it.

Hopefully that changes soon!

Thank you for sharing your view!
