Underwater series continued (charcoal)

in #ntopaz5 years ago

Ive shared some drawings in this series before so if you missed it, you are welcome to go back and check it out.

This is a deep sea diving suit of around 1790's I think.
When I was doing research into the evolution of diving suits for the series I came across this one and the guy had an axe. I just loved it so much, its weird but quirky.

As always, i dont have any progress pics unfortunately because it was drawn a while ago.
I later framed it , the drawing in middle was just a simple submarine, Ill see if I can find another photo of it as I threw everything away eventually.

I like the series of drawings. Very different and quirky which makes them even more interesting. It's amazing how the diving suits have evolved over time and had no idea about this one. Have a nice long weekend.

Thank you for the kind words! I also found it super fascinating how they evolved, some of them were cool but didnt look fun to draw. Have a good one too!

These are so beautiful, @aliciasteyn ! I love them~ The detailing, the shading, the style in which you did them... so cool~ I love how you made them look almost like actual technical drawings with the layouts of each piece! They look so artistic and wonderful, and how they are framed and lighted,.... so beautiful <3 <3 <3

Ahh you are being so kind! Thank you so much. I honestly really enjoyed doing them. Ive done some other series of drawings before but didnt love doing it as much as this.

Thanx for checking out my work!

Very interesting! The bottom right one looks like the one that was supposedly used to examine some of the foundations of Winchester Cathedral in Hampshire.

How ironic, he did a really dangerous dive continuously for 6 years then died of the flu! Very interesting article.
