The mountains of north Texas were scattered right in the middle of the country, with part of the Appalachian mountain range in the east, and a part of the Rockies in the west. In the middle of each respective mountain range was a smaller mountain. Time and nature have carved these stones into ancient buildings and petroglyphs that have stood for thousands of years. The walls and ceilings of these structures stood across the largest corridor of the mountain range. Ancient stairs opened into many rooms and corridors, some small and some larger. The enormous floor of the massive corridor would cover the night sky. The walls of this corridor were covered with drawings and petroglyphs that told the story of the people that had lived at this house long ago. It was likely that this was the ancient home of different kinds of people, but the most dominant of all was what the ruin was named after. It was called ''Mindfreak''.
For thousands of years the stories of these enormous creatures covering the walls of the mountain corridor were told to anyone who would listen. Some people considered it a hoax, but others believed that it was real. Some said that it was the region of America's imagination, bound to give birth to all kinds of extraordinary creatures. Others said that it was a story of the truth, long forgotten by the people of North America. Others said that it was a story of the past that needed to be remembered. The Appalachian People, the Cherokee, Choctaw, and other native tribes read the drawings as a story of what happened in the ways of the human mind. ''Mindfreak'' was said to be a kind of living being, with an extraordinary ability to control the minds of humans. The drawings on the walls of the corridor have been the subject of study by many experts on human behavior, and also a horror story for anyone who has been in the corridor at night. The ruins of the corridor were taken from the minds of humans who destroyed the corridor in hopes of showing off their power. The Cherokee, and other tribes believed that ''Mindfreak'' was the beginning of everything humans were.
From the walls, the large corridor stretched down to the ground of the mountain, which was mostly covered by grass. On the ground, at the end of the corridor, was a tree that someone had given the name of ''Mindfreak''. As the story goes, the trees of the mountain were already in the region of mind control, and then the first human took control of the corridor and created a mind-bending tree. This tree was a tree whose branches would grow around and surround the minds of all the ''Mindfreak'' that it would come in contact with. That meant that certain trees in this mountains were mind-bending because of the beings that created them. The roots were also said to be mind-bending, although nobody knew why, and nobody had the courage to try. This corridor was not the only one that was mind-bending in the mind of this mountain, but the corridor could still be dangerous for humans. ''Mindfreak'' was said to be protecting these trees from being destroyed by humans. The only way to protect these trees was to be in contact with them at the right time, by approaching them while they are asleep. No one knew why the trees had these particular powers, but many theories claimed that the trees were created in the minds of ''Mindfreak''. There were more mind-bending trees in the area. Many knew of the story of ''Mindfreak'', but little were the people that knew where it was located.
The corridor of ''Mindfreak'' was a place of history and legend. But then came the day when ''Mindfreak'' was only a story. Those who entered the corridor at night were never to be seen again. All kinds of creatures lived in the corridor of ''Mindfreak'', but it was only the most dangerous of these creatures that would strike first when humans entered the area. These creatures were the ones that the Cherokee called ''Ranged Mindfreak''. ''Ranged Mindfreak'' had origins that are not known to many people. The ''Ranged Mindfreak'' had formed into a group composed of different kinds of combat-ready beasts. They were humanoid creatures with a variety of heads. There were creatures that had dogs heads, and others that had mouths in the shape of sharks, spiders, centipedes, and many others.
The creatures of ''Ranged Mindfreak'' never attacked humans that entered the corridor unless they felt that it was necessary for them to do so. But some of them did attack the humans when they entered the corridor. The ''Ranged Mindfreak'' were the most dangerous out of all kinds of ''Mindfreak'', made more so by the combat beasts that the mind-control trees had produced. The trees of ''Mindfreak'' were said to be able to stretch out the power of the mind-bending trees by creating ''Ranged Mindfreak'', and other kinds of creatures out of the ground itself. The Ranged Mindfreak would form into groups, and the leader would be the most dangerous one. That creature would control all of the smaller beasts within the group. The creatures of the Ranged Mindfreak were said to have been created for the sole purpose of killing humans. This was a time when people didn't know that the world was not the first place that humans lived in. Many had the idea that ''Mindfreak'' was some kind of legend of Native Americans that lived in this area. The ones that knew that this was all true were the experts of myths and legends, such as the experts of the Appalachian People.
The Appalachian People were said to be the ones who created the mind-bending trees of the corridor. The same people were said to have created ''Ranged Mindfreak'' and the trees that they used to protect themselves. The trees had always been there, but only a few knew where the corridor was located. There were shacks in the woods, but the area had become bigger over time. There was not much known about ''Ranged Mindfreak'' or the corridor of ''Mindfreak'', and few people had gone into the woods. Many people heard about the shacks, and the shacks were something that people in the area knew about. There were a lot of stories about ''Mindfreak'' and the corridor, but only the experts knew the truth. The only thing that was known that the corridor was protected by ''Ranged Mindfreak''. That was all that was known about the corridor, other than being in a dangerous area.
Ben was a boy who was fifteen years old. He had been born in Texas, and had grown up on a farm. He had not known there was a reason that the Appalachian People knew about the corridor of ''Mindfreak'', and had not known that they knew where ''Mindfreak'' was located. And that was something that he was about to find out.
Ben had managed to reach the corridor and was walking alone. He had been in a car accident, and had only recently come back to his senses. He looked around and was sure that the sounds of gunshots were not only in his dreams. That was when he finally realised what he had heard so many times before. The gunshots weren't in his dreams. The sounds were coming from the corridor.
Ben had decided to enter the corridor, where ever it was. He didn't feel like leaving the woods, so he was going to find out what was going on. He reached the end of the corridor, and was sure that the sound of gunshots was coming from there. But no matter where he went, the sound could always be heard. But when he reached the place where the corridor should have been, he was told that the corridor never existed. He was then told that he had not gone anywhere, and that he was in a dream. The corridor was indeed a dream, and he was not in the dream.
