Beautiful stuff here my friend, in essence I feel that you're definitely right by all means. The truth is that even those who are getting support still need to engage in other to stay relevant. In essence it's not easy but it's not just about writing like you said, one needs to make themselves valuable to the system, relate, make something meaningful and build the right relationship.
It hardly comes easy and the most important thing is trying to enjoy the process.
