OCD DAILY - Issue #220

Welcome to the 220th issue of @OCD Daily!

Issue #220 highlights content from 10 Steemit Content Creators! The OCD team continues its search throughout Steemit to find you the undervalued gems, as provided by relatively new users.

Today our curators found you 10 new pieces of original content! We strive to find works that are provided by newer Steemit users, that may not have the audience which their quality content deserves. @OCD strives to help provide that audience, and intends to showcase Steemit users who put in the extra effort to create creative, original content.

The nomination process

A curator will FIND a piece of work (typically from newer users). Within 24 hours that piece has been submitted from the curator to the @OCD team, votes are tallied, and the pieces with the most votes are placed into the compilation.

We encourage you to visit these blogs and to show these great Steemians your support and encouragement.

If you enjoyed their work, give them a Follow or maybe even say Hello!

All of the content as chosen by our curators is undervalued, but there is always one piece that rises to the top. That piece is seen as universally appreciated and valued making it OCD’s Top Nomination of the Day.

Our first nomination today comes from @seenitallfilms, who has been a filmmaker for about two years. Many clients are musicians looking for video work, clients this Steemian met as a teenager while writing for various music publications. Various projects, including a horror series and several documentaries, have been filmed with mostly borrowed equipment by this extremely passionate filmmaker. An early video, as well as the most recent are included in this post!

Next up is a beautifully written and touching post by @helenoftroy that talks about how adopted children cope with grief and loss, often before they're even able to express their feelings of loss. This post is written by a woman who was adopted herself, and is now an adoptive parent. Adopted children often struggle in forming attachments, and tend to be stressed and hyperalert. The good news here is that love can help heal the pain of loss.

The statue of John the Baptist that graces a Catholic church in Joliet, Illinois was sculpted by our next Steemian, @kathleenscarboro! In her post, she shares photographs of the statue's creation as well as a photograph of the finished piece in place outside. The biggest challenge in her sculpting was giving the face an expression of infinite compassion, but we think you'll agree Kathleen achieved that goal.

Next up is an installment from @asonintrigue's series, A Career in Rewind. In this post, he discusses how he got into video music production. He credits his success to his friendship with Blueprint, a hip-hop artist he met in Columbus, Ohio. He would later produce a music video for him and several films he's worked on with Print are showcased in this recounting of a story of awesome beginnings.

The next nomination discusses how @artizm's world changed when a new history teacher came to her school. The levels of curiosity and reading at the school increased, and our post's author became president of the book club. She ran across a book on photography and her history teacher encouraged her interest, forming a photo club at the school. Rather than nature photography, her interest was in portraiture. Her history teacher and then her father provided her with cameras, the result being a vocation and interest in street photography.

It's harvest time in Venezuela and @albertozambrano is harvesting peppers in his garden, specifically Capsicum chinense, a cousin to the habenero pepper. It's a milder and sweeter pepper used in Venezuelan cuisine. He includes many pictures of these brightly colored vegetables! (fruits?) Don't miss his recipe for pepper jam, one he likes to use with the first peppers of each year's harvest.

In this next nomination, @victorcovrig shows us how music can influence your style of photography. In this case, Radiohead inspired him to take photos and the pics in the post were all taken while he listened to their song, Street Spirit, on a loop. (The video for the song is included in the post.)

In our next nomination, @alexandraioana26 shows us around Bergamo, Italy. Beware the delicious-looking photographs of the food, but if you plan to visit she gives great information on where to eat while you're there. The funicular also looks like a fun way to travel "up" the city. And don't miss the beautiful photographs of the Cathedrals!

If you're arachnophobic, you'd best look away. Our next nomination is from @custone about a spider's dilemma. As he was hiking a trail with his sister at the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge near Gulf Shores, Alabama, he took several photos of a mother spider being attacked by minute insects. They were flying insects, creating a sort of cloud around the spider. Unfortunately, the hikers had to move on and we don't know how the spider fared as a result of this attack.

In our final nomination, @pizzapai shares why she's called the "green chatterbox" - she loves to chat about environmental topics. And the post includes adorable drawings by her son! She uses rain water to clean the floors and flush the toilet and makes her own soap with baking soda. She also promotes using shared resources like libraries and toy sharing. And she's very happy her current job allows her to optimize efficiency in machine repair, which is also a "green" pursuit.
