I was pretty surprised to see on Saturday that I had a incoming token transaction from OmiseGo (Ticker: OMG)
Tracing it back to the contract which made this generous donation I realized it it an Airdrop of Contract 0x862CB5B6EEAaFB26Ebb137e0c3C5d7728800439A:
I heard of OMG before specially because they do a lot of marketing and It appears to me pay a lot of Twitter Crypto Influencer to spread the word. But to be honest so far the airdrop has been the best marketing it clearly got me interested in reading about it.
If you ask yourself why you did not get any tokens here some explanation:
- The Airdrop given was 5% of all OMG Tokens.
- It was given to ETH Holder and that snapshotdate was Block 3988888 which occurred on July 7th.
- It was given to ETH Holder with an amount of more than 0.1 ETH
Always keep you crypto in your own wallet where you control the Private key. Most people might ask why did I not get any OMG tokens. Mostly you keep your Crypto at an exchange in that case the exchange own the private key and therefore gets the Airdrop Tokens. Some Exchanges give the Airdrop to the clients I read that Trex did that. It's to say that Exchanges don't have to do that.
Unbank the Banked with Ethereum
Apparently what OMG likes to accomplish is banking the unbanked people in the world. Which specially in Asia and Africa are a lot.
IMO to make this or any other solution a success it has to be as easy as cash. Best example so far are Contact Less Credit and Debit cards it works as simple as cash and people are using it. Before at least here in Central Europe Customers did not use the Credit Card for daily shopping activities.
OMG has some serious advisers on their website - not sure if they are really involved or just got some tokens in exchange for a picture ( having one meeting of 50 minutes should not been considered involved).
Lets see what the future brings to OmiseGO and if they can deliver. I certainly will keep the Airdrop in my Portfolio just to see how the price changes.
Thank you for reading and Thank you OMG for the Airdrop.
I had Eth on coinbase, silly decission. Missed the airdrop.
