Hive Open Mic Week 1 - The Man Who Told Everything (cover)

in #openmic5 years ago

Like many others I miss the old #OpenMic contest that was run my @luzcypher. Unfortunately he left Steem some time ago. Now @cabelindsay has kicked off a new one.

There was a theme of positivity for this week and I am not totally sure if that is what this song is about as I do not know what the thought behind it was, but it does have some positive sentiments with 'Get out of bed. Come out and sing. Blue skies ahead'. I have have had the Doves album with this song for ages and listened to it for the first time in a while a few weeks back. This song struck me as one I could attempt.

We need more music on Hive, so why not join us. There are no big prizes to be won, but maybe we can entertain others. That is much needed in these strange times.

I was recording on my PC using an MXL 990 microphone through an M-Audio Fasttrack Pro interface. I have had some issues with that set-up recently where the audio would come through speeded up, but it seems to be working again. I had resorted to using the PC built-in audio, but that has some issues with noise. What I did mess up is that the audio is mono and only on one side. I will look to fix that next time, but I hope it does not spoil it too much.

Rock on!

Ooh, openmic is back. Very cool!

There's a couple of challenges running with prizes to be won. Need to mobilise the Hive musicians.

Good job Steve! Nice to see some activity on the music front again.

That is awesome that someone has picked up the torch! Are you going to start all over from one or are you going to keep your streak going? You were over 100 last I remember!

All my old ones are still out there. I remember when it was a big deal for me to record a song. Maybe I can get into doing it weekly again.

yay open mic is back well done @steevc how all is well with you and your area.

It's not so bad here. I am not hearing about many cases and nobody I know is in hospital. Just have to hope it stays that way.

Exactly, I know of no one personally or even friends or acquaintances of others, so I suppose we are lucky. Onward with the isolation.

Good of you to lead the way into what's hopefully a new era of open mic life. You were a leader in the Steemit Open Mic, and it sure is good to hear you here on Hive.

I just get carried away with these things :) I would like to hear from luzcypher again. I met him at two Steemfests and he was a nice guy.

He seemed cool. I enjoyed the convos we shared on Steemit. Any idea of why he's not active at the moment? I imagine he's just rolling in the waves of change, like many of us.

He dropped off ages ago. I heard from someone he was okay. Don't want to speculate on his reasons.

The open mic contest was one of the main things that got me into the blockchain. Glad it's coming back around on Hive :-).

Anyone is free to start one and I will join in where I can. Maybe some big accounts will decide to sponsor it again, but I just love playing anyway.
