The Upcoming Sapphire TriXX GPU Overclocking Software with Radeon RX 4x0 Support

With the release of the new Radeon 400 series of video cards AMD has introduced a new way of controlling the operating parameters of their products essentially making unusable many of the popular tools used for overclocking prior to that. The MSI Afterburner software and the Sapphire TriXX were the preferred choices by many overclockers for tweaking their AMD-based video cards prior to the release of the RX 480, RX 470 and RX 460 GPUs.

These overclocking and monitoring tools are currently not working for the AMD Radeon RX 400 series and you have to deal up with whatever is available to you, namely the AMD WattMan overclocking functionality that AMD has decided to make a part fo the video drivers. The WattMan functionality however is still somewhat buggy, limited in features and capabilities and not always working as you expect it to...

The new Sapphire TriXX software

Sapphire however is not sitting idle and apparently they are preparing soon to release an update to their popular Sapphire TriXX GPU overclocking software that will come with full support for tweaking and monitoring the new Radeon RX 400 series of video cards as well. On the photo above you can see how the new interface looks like as well as some of the features in action with the software running on an AMD Radeon RX 470 video card.

The new Sapphire TriXX software should allow for more headroom in terms of overclocking the RX series of video cards including giving the ability to easily control the fan speeds, increase the GPU voltage and operating frequency, control the video memory frequency, change the power limit settings and monitor different operating parameters of the video card.

The new Sapphire TriXX software should become an essential tool for every crypto currency miner using the Radeon RX 4x0 video cards allowing the tweaking of the operating parameters for getting the highest performance or the best hashrate/power usage ratio.

Alternative Tool from ASUS

If you cannot wait for the expected very soon release of the updated Sapphire TriXX software you still have an alternative that is already available. An alternative that may not be as good as the TriXX software, but surely can be a better choice when compared to the built-in AMD WattMan solution. That tool is called ASUS GPU Tweak II and it already has support for the AMD Radeon 4x0 series of video cards. Do note that like the Trixx software from Sapphire, this ASUS made tool will also work on different brands of video cards, though on some it is possible that the programs may offer a bit more limited functionality!

👍nice information @cryptos thanks

nice article and i have a question
is this card good for gaming ?

Which card exactly are you asking about, the RX 480?
Yes, it is good for gaming, though it is also quite popular among Ethereum miners.
