Owowow I love how you did her eyes so much, @scrawly ! The glassiness are so wonderful !! You did the texture of the eyes' reflectiveness so well here, really it grabbed my attention straight away and immediately I see her expression clearly.... She is gazing away and far into the distance, into her future and this clarity is not clouded by worries of her past. A beautiful gaze!

I love her hair also, it looks very soft and voluminous, and I love how you did the skin tone very much :) There is warmth on her face, as if she's standing somewhere against a strong light of the sun, and I love her hand and how it looks so gracefully poised against her shoulders :)

And that harmonious complementary green background and blue dress is just so well considered, both colours are picked at similar saturation that together, they formed a lovely frame for the visage :D

Absolutely stunning work, you've been learning heaps and heaps \o/ I love it, keep at it!!! \o/

I agree with this comment 100%
:)

Thank you for the concur, Doctor :D.

I am so happy that I painted her eyes without much blunder. The eyes in watercolour art are really quite a stressful area to work at, actually the whole face is hahaha.

I am quite pleased that this one is closer to the image that I have in mind, there are still mistakes that I should get better at but once again you are very kind with your lovely comment. With your support, I will keep trying.

Thank you spider :D.

Amazing work!

Thank you, you are sweet :D.

I sometimes gaze into old faded vintage portraits of people of the past and wonder of those lives lived and what secrets they kept.

Oh yes! Those vintage photos, when they did those dead stares, their eyes can be piercing and rather eerie. I also wonder what they were thinking.

The expression of her face, in particular the eyes, is so well achieved it almost looks real! Spectacular work, @scrawly! 😄

That's a very nice praise you gave me. Thanks trin :D.

Those eyes!! You certainly managed that very well :)

It is part technique and part luck with my watercolour art. And I'm quite lucky in this picture.

Thank you :D.

Lovely watercolor!!! She looks really elegant with that pose~ And her eyesss, her eyes look so mesmerizing ♥

It is good that I painted the eyes with no mistake, if I botch that part, I have to redo the picture lol. Thank you kothy :D.

The power of opposites: Blue/greens and tones of red/oranges: Add to the striking presence of this 'proud lady.' The eyes are BEAUTIFUL and really hold your gaze ~ Even if you look away. Amazing that you have only been working with watercolour for a month now Scrawly. Imagine what your work will be like in 2 months time? ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

Though I'm glad with my progress in watercolour, I don't think the second month will have as much improvement as the first because I believe it's harder to improve once I learn the basic techniques. I'm hoping I'm wrong in this case.

Thanks Ally :).

The learning will continue to grow. The improvements may not be as obvious, but they will be there. Watercolour can be such a subtle medium, once you understand the basics.

So in one way you are right but in another way you may not be. The improvements will just be subtler. I love the way your previous work is also having an impact on what you are painting now. Another medium being just a different way to express our core creativity. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

The light in her eyes @scrawly is magical, they are pulling me in.

Eyes are tricky in watercolour art, but I'm glad these ones turn up alright.

Thanks Donna :D.
