In recent times the strategic alliance between Pakistan and USA has been broken. The matter of fact is why or how did it happened suddenly, The country which United States declared one of the most important country in South Asia in fight against terrorism and on many occasions United States accepted the positive role of Pakistan in fight against terrorism.
To know the summary of the recent deadlock between these two countries we have to go back to 9/11.

After The Fall Of World Trade Center (9/11):
After 9/11 tragedy USA took some serious steps to overcome the evil of terrorism and started their journey by stepping into the borders of Afghanistan to counter Al-Quaidah which was led by Usama bin Laden who took the responsibility of attacking world trade center and pentagon. At that time Afghanistan was suffering from the impact/destruction created by Soviet Union although, taliban defeated them which was the end of Soviets but it made Afghanistan a center of terrorists and to counter them USA needed a hand from South Asia and asked Pakistan to help in this reasonable cause.
Pakistan at the other hand had nothing to do with 9/11 and people of Pakistan never even knew that what are suicide bomb attacks but after 9/11 things changed for Pakistan in a horrible way and in more then a decade Pakistan lost:

  1. 123.1 billion dollars to economy.
  2. Almost 50 thousand civilian casualties.
  3. 5 thousand from security forces.

Lost 132 children in Army Public School massacre. . This happened to a country which was already contributing in UN's peace mission by sending the most troops as compared to any other nation of the world.

Recent Deadlock:
Even after all of this Pakistan didn't step back and not just fought for USA but also for itself. In the presidential terms of George Bush and Barrack Obama, strategic alliance was strong but since the Donald J. Trump elected as a president the alliance got weakened and Pakistan rejects the policy on war on terror made by Donald Trump it is because Donald Trump's overconfidence. Even the think tanks of USA stated that Donald Trump is not taking foreign policy advice consultants advice seriously and dealing every matter on behalf of his own. Due to his irresponsible actions Pakistan which just took control over security issues within the state can't afford to say "YES" in response of Donald Trump's irrelevant policy on war on terror.

Donald Trump have to learn from Barrack Obama's and George Bush's presidential terms to keep USA's influence alive in South Asia.
