Call Out for Help with Blockchain Account Value

in #palnet5 years ago (edited)

Hello wise ones. I surface from thy abyss with a question; only one, though I have many.

I wandered away from the blockchain when things started to get messy here. When many were moving from #steem to #hive. I became very confused as to where to go, how, and why. I am back and plan to stay. I'm even considering investing- but that's not why I have crawled back.

Just now, I went to #steemworld so as to delegate to a new user. Hivian? Hiver? Anyway, Steem World indicates a drastically different USD account value than what I'm seeing on #Peakd.

Why is this?

Hive and Steem are completely different blockchains, you have separate funds on them and the estimated account value is also different because of a difference in the current values of two tokens.

Thank you @alcibiades . I speculated that might be the case from day one of the changes. That said, my following question is, how could I possibly have appx 40% more value with Hive than Steem if I’ve only been active on hive a small fraction of the time?

The confusion continues.

Also, I appreciate your response. I’ve gotten upvotes and only you have jumped in to help. This isn’t a post in hopes for reads or revenue- only help. Seems that got overlooked and I appreciate you not overlooking my reach for help.

When the new blockchain Hive was created in the hardfork existing Steem users were practically rewarded with new coin in the same amount that were their Steem holdings. Basically, you kept your Steem and got free Hive tokens. Current value of Steem is slightly above Hive, that's why the difference in estimated account value. Up to you how you'll use the tokens, they are completely independent from one another.

@toofasteddie thank you. I’m clearly not fully comprehending things.

What gets me, how do I have 40% + revenue in hive then steem after hardly posting after that change?

Also, I’m sorry for the other thing. I was having a personal mental breakdown. I deleted that post and don’t agree with all that I went on about.

And if I'm not supporting steem anymore, should I cash out or exchange? I feel like my question is the answer in of itself.
