A long time ago I used to flag spammers and those ho were begging for votes as well as some identity theft. My small voting power didn't manage to do much and I finally gave up. Hard Fork 21 has granted everyone free downvotes and I don't think this is a very good idea. I haven't dropped any downvotes on anyone. I don't want to randomly test out such a thing. Since I already have some free downvotes I want to responsibly use them. This became even more important when an article regarding flags by @crypto.piotr got flagged. You can read it here. At the time of writing it has managed to have a positive vote value. But when I discovered it, it was hidden.
Examples of What I Consider Deserving of Flags
- Comment Spam
- Copy/Paste
- Cybersecurity Threats
- Identity Theft/DeceptionPhoto/Image Plagiarism
- Plagiarism
- Spam
- Tag Abuse
- Tag Spam
- Spreading Lies and Misinformation
- Operating Scams
- Threats and Harassment
- Doxing
- Any Content Produced Through Violation of Non-Aggression Principle
I think you get the idea. These things cannot be called okay by a reasonable sane person. This is a as close as it gets to being objective about downvotes. Nobody likes downvotes. It is an inherently negative thing. Voting power is also non-linear resulting in larger stake holders having more power. This is already creating more toxicity while the https://steemit.com/trending isn't hugely different (It could still get better over time. SMTs will fix this a lot more than EIP)
Flag With More Objective Standards
If you know any accounts or articles that would meet the above criteria for flags, please let me know in the comments. Since we have flags anyways, at least let's use them responsibly and make a positive change instead of creating more drama.

Dear @vimukthi
I only noticed that you mentioned me a moment ago. Thx for bringing up my case (I got surely flagged a lot, however luckily I ended up being supported by many large stakeholders and my current payout will be the best since I'm on Steemit :)
How cool is that?
ps.
I've seen that you delegated almost all your SP. Wouldn't you think that after hf21 you will get more from curating?
Not only you could attract more attention (people do check where do their rewards are coming from) but also you would probably earn more. Just curious
Cheers
Piotr
