Long-awaited Ricoh GR III will be introduced at Photokina 2018, and available early in 2019. What can be expected?
My personal preference lies with cameras with a viewfinder — no viewfinder, no deal. The only exception (before I went to Fuji) was Ricoh GR. The first fixed-lens, one-hand operated APS-C format camera, made for quick and easy street shooting. It was quite popular during first two incarnations (GR and GR II), so much that even Nikon tried to steal a part of profit pie with their overpriced Coolpix A in 2013.
Third incarnation will probably try to keep the fan base from the previous models retaining the form factor and controls, while offering new, higher resolution sensor and improved AF. Key element this time, will be the price. If it’s too high, it won’t be able to compete with a fantastic Fujifilm lineup: X70 (without viewfinder), X-A5 (without viewfinder but with interchangeable lenses), X100F (viewfinder and fixed lens), or X-E3 (viewfinder and interchangeable lenses)…
