The III. Ahmed Fountain was built in 1728 by III. Ahmed in the name of his mother, Emetullah Rabia Gülnuş Sultan. The fountain, which provides for the needs of those passing through the Istanbul Strait, has 8 taps. The taps on the corners were made for drinking water, while the taps on the sides were made for filling water. The inscription on the sea-facing side of the fountain was made by III. Ahmed and Nevşehirli Damat İbrahim Paşa.
