RE: The Tortious Interference Arbitration claim against Patreon

in #patreon4 years ago (edited)

Just to be clear I'm only an observer of this case, and when our massive class action in Australia starts up (sooner than you think) I'll have less time for spectator law-sports!.

Yes I really do miss Lior's videos. I think one of the other Legal YouTubers mentioned there had been a family problem and he never came back from that.

What is so much more interesting about this campaign against Patreon is:

  • Patreon is not very big and not profitable;
  • The arbitration approach which Patreon forced everyone into is asymmetric legal warfare with the fees: $250 for the plaintiffs and $1000's for Patreon. This is like a financial amplified-DDOS attack;
  • Vox Day (who really is the brains behind this) is a formidable intellectual opponent.

Vox has obviously found competent lawyers to work with but he is running this show.

I don't think this would work against one of the really big firms (PayPal for example) but boy will it send shock waves if Patreon has to settle.
