I think 中国象棋 (Chinese chess) is unique and interesting. It has some similarities with western chess but have more variations and limitations to make it more interesting. So, featuring @xiangqi is to
bring this game of Chinese chess to all to enjoy
China is a modern day miracle on a grand scale and featuring Chinese bloggers is my way of helping to (albeit in a very small way) bridging the language and culture gap.
It is easier, seems to me, to encourage the Chinese bloggers to start translating some of their posts into Chinese than for people to learn Chinese using google. In any case, there are pictures that might be interesting to some.
I look at a few Chinese Language or Korean, or Japanese, language pages on occasion, (usually when a picture catches my eye), and other foreign language post. I know the browser translate function is not 100% good, but I am generally able to get the gist of the post. And some of them, whether intentional or not, make for a really funny read at times.
