Prayer for Peace by Pope Paul VI
Lord God of Peace, you who created us to be heirs of your glory,
we bless and thank you for having sent your dearly beloved son Jesus to us.
You made him through the mystery of his life, death and resurrection,
the shaper of our salvation, the source of all peace, the ties that binds us.
Pope Paul VI born Giovanni Battista Enrico Antonio Maria Montini on 26 September 1897. He served from 21 June 1963 to his death in 6 August 1978.
We thank you for the promptings, efforts, and successes that your Spirit of
peace has stirred up in our day so as to replace hatred with love, distrust
with understanding, indifference with solidarity.
Open our hearts and spirits even more to meet the concrete requirements
of love of all our brothers and sisters so that we may become even
greater peacemakers.
Be mindful, O Father, of all those who are engaged in conflicts and suffer
and die for the up-building of a more just and benign world order. May
your kingdom of justice, peace and love be established among men and
women of all races and tongues.
